PASS Will Move Outdoor Practice Times Up

PASS has recommended that all coaches move practice times up to avoid being outside at dusk when mosquitos are most active.

“Health leaders are asking organizers of outdoor activities to consider rescheduling events that occur at or after dusk, which is the height of mosquito activity."

"The following Health Department statement was issued:
The MDHHS is encouraging local officials in Kent County to consider postponing, rescheduling or cancelling outdoor activities occurring at or after dusk, particularly activities that involve children. This would include events such as late evening outdoor sports practices, games or music practices. The MDHHS recommendation is being made out of an abundance of caution to protect the public health and applies until the first hard frost of the year.”

“The most effective way to prevent infection from Eastern Equine Encephalitis virus is to prevent mosquito bites. Mosquitoes bite during the day and night. Use insect repellent, wear long-sleeved shirts and pants, treat clothing and gear, and take steps to control mosquitoes indoors and outdoors.”
